» BAND --- March 2009 --- Junior Concert Band are winners of the Calgary Kiwanis Festival Band Award for their superior performance in the festival. This band was also invited to perform in the closing ceremonies for the Kiwanis Festival.
» BAND --- March 2009 --- Grade Six Concert Band won gold at the Alberta International Beginning Band Festival and were the recipients of the 'Dennis Jackson Trophy for Most Outstanding Beginning Band'.

» On March 17, Madeline Cummings participated in the
Dictée PGL Regional final held at Lycée Louis
Pasteur. Madeline was declared the winner in the
French Immersion Category and she will represent
Southern Alberta at the National Competition to be
held in Montreal on May 17th.
» Congratulations to Madeline Cummings (Gr. 5), top student for the Dictée PGL at CFIS. Madeline will represent CFIS at the Southern Alberta Dictée PGL competition in March 2009.
» VOLLEYBALL ---
Congratulations to all 4 teams for their hard work and commitment. Thank you to our coaches: Matt
Ford (Boys 7), Mme Duvette (Girls 7), Mme Gagnon (Boys 8/9) and M. Legault (Girls 8/9) for their
time and effort. All of our teams represented our school at the I.S.A.A. Tournament and at the
Divisional Tournament in November 2008.
» X-Country:
Our students compete in 4 races against other
ISAA schools. As of Oct 1, 2008, our school is in 1st place among the 2J (school size classification)
schools.

» Volleyball:
Our school registered four teams for ISAA competition! This is a first for our school. Thank
you so much to our coaches Mlle Duvette, Matt Ford, M. Legault and Mlle Gagnon. Check the calendar for
the game schedules. We would love to see more faces supporting our teams.
» CFIS participated in the Annual Law Cup Competition at the Court of Queen's Bench. This
annual competition celebrates excellence in the areas of academic
research and persuasive speechmaking.
Congratulation to all the participants for their hard work and determination. Brigitte
Ouellet, Attiya Hirji, Sahar Ibrahim, Alex Lee, Andre Wilkie, Sean-Marc
Wilkie, Rachel Bethune, Matthew Scott and Sabrina Poonja.
CFIS students captured the top three positions in their respective
divisions.
» Rachel Bethune, and Sahar Ibrahim are forming one of the three Alberta teams selected to participate in the Senior
National Debate Championships in St-John’s Newfoundland May 8 to 12.
» Thanks to the generosity of the 40 junior and senior students and their families, these participants
of the 1st Annual CFIS 24-Hour Famine raised $1,600 for the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank.
» The Calgary Interfaith Food Bank drive by Grade 3 students collected 750 pounds of non-perishable food and birthday boxes and $322 from the Peruvian Art Card sale. Thank you!
» Junior High School Provincial Debate Tournament. This was a very large competition. Congratulations to the entire CFIS Debate team for such a strong showing!!! See results here »
» CFIS was one of the top ten schools in Alberta for donations to UNICEF for their programme to build a school in Africa. Thank you to all of your for raising over $7,300.
