We continue to use the very successful Tuition Credit Program (started in the 2007/08).
This program fosters a strong volunteer culture and creates
administrative efficiencies, while maintaining strong social opportunities for the school
community.
The Tuition Credit Program offers positions at CFIS that have pre-assigned individual dollar values, based on the responsibilities and approximate hours worked. Some "volunteer" time may also be required.
The majority of our Tuition Credit positions are in areas that bring revenue to the school. Highlights of the Tuition Credit Program:
- Following successful completion of the work for the year, the dollar value of that position is applied to the following years’ tuition.
- If a family does not return to the school, they receive a reimbursement for their completed tuition credit work.
- Positions may vary from year to year. The April/May each year, a list of positions available for the following school year are posted. The application period is usually open for a few weeks and confirmation of positions is done prior to the end of each school year in June.
- To give all of our families equal opportunity to be involved at the school, parents employed elsewhere at CFIS are not eligible for the Tuition Credit positions.
- All CFIS volunteers (credit positions included) require a Police Security Check before volunteering. Applications are available at the CFIS Main Office.
The Application/Selection Process
In filling these positions, the emphasis is placed on finding the right person for the right job. The criteria for selection (in order of importance) are: suitability, experience, skills, and date of application. Date of application will be relevant only when all other qualifications are equal. Past experience (with a good performance record) will be an asset if a parent wishes to re-apply for that position. There will be no limit to the number of times a parent can serve in a position; conversely, there will be no guarantee of receiving a position consecutively. Parents will need to re-apply each year for positions of interest.
