Building our Vision Campaign

Provincial Government Support

The impact of the CFIS’s facilities meeting the needs of the broader community has enabled the School to be recognized and rewarded for its contributions.

Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP)

• Thanks to support from a $125,000 Community Facility Enhancement Program grant CFIS was able to design and construct a double full-sized community gym as part of a greater $12 million Elementary / Junior High School facility
• CFIS was awarded a CFEP grant of $40,378 to specifically design and construct two playgrounds (toddler and elementary) as part of its Phase 1 construction
• Another $125,000 CFEP grant was awarded for the construction of the double full-sized community gym in the new CFIS High School facility.

All of these projects were enthusiastically endorsed by the surrounding communities and are engaged by them today.

Alberta Initiative for School Improvement (AISI)
The CFIS is the recipient of a grant of $24,000 per year for three years ending in 2005 thanks to Alberta Initiative for School Improvement. The CFIS project “Enhancing French Writing Skills” is our second project with the AISI and the grant will allow us to access professional development (conferences out of school as well as in-house) and give release time to some teachers to use team-teaching strategies every week in order to assist with the writing process in their colleagues’ classes.

Our last three-year project with the AISI was “Enhanced French Immersion: PD and Arts”.

Corporate Support

Framework Partners Inc. is a Calgary-based management consulting group that, through its work over the last 15 years, has quietly become a recognized leader in working with organizations in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors to help them adapt to changing markets through selectively repositioning, realigning systems and processes, refocusing people and evolving governance processes.

Framework’s contribution to Calgary French & International School began in 1999 when Framework Principal Donna Finley became the school’s President & CEO and led the school toward an extraordinary transformation since then into a Centre of Excellence for language education. Framework Inc. worked successfully and diligently in partnership with parents, volunteers and staff of CFIS throughout this transformation all the while transferring key planning, leadership and management skills and introducing updated processes, policies and procedures into the School. This explicit, detailed and sustained effort by Framework has left CFIS with the confidence to nurture and further develop its key partnerships very effectively, manage its core systems more efficiently and use technology for the management of the business more appropriately. The foundation of the School is now set to accommodate its significant anticipated growth.

SSE Architecture is a Calgary-based, multi-disciplinary firm that provides complete architectural services in a fully computerized studio environment. The firm is headed up by principals Robert Spaetgens and David Symons whose combined experience stretches across all building types and includes a diverse client base - resulting in a strong, cohesive partnership. SSE Architecture has had tremendous success with committee-based clients including school boards, recreation facilities and senior care providers. As facilitators, we listen and synthesize the ideas, needs and wants of groups into successful design solutions.
