This award is funded through a collection from Board members from each of the three CFIS boards in Donna Finley’s honour. Donna Finley, a parent at the school, was a driving force behind developing a new vision for CFIS. During an imperative for change, Donna came forward to help guide the school through a crossroads and towards a new strategic direction. During her time as President of CFIS, her vision and leadership enabled the purchase of the Cougar Ridge site and the construction of the new $20 million facility, the introduction of Junior and Senior High school programs, the introduction of Spanish education, the creation of innovative community partnerships, and the reassertion of the school’s pioneering role in language education.

Mr. Ed Romanowski has provided the initial endowment for this award. Additional contributions will be provided though the fundraising initiatives of The CFS Endowment Society. Ed Romanowski, a parent at CFIS, has truly gone “The EXTRA MILE” for this educational institution. He served as Vice President of Facilities for CFIS from 2000 to 2006, and as an Executive for the Finance and Facilities Committee Member for the Foundation Board. Mr. Romanowski was instrumental in leading the team of dedicated parents and school administrators that oversaw the site selection, acquisition, financing, planning, design, contracting and construction of the new school facility in Cougar Ridge over six years. Construction of the school was completed in two phases, both completed on time and under budget: the south wing in summer 2003 and the north wing in spring 2005. In honour of Ed’s tremendous efforts, unceasing energy and selflessness, the Foundation had the actual running shoes he wore on site to build this school bronzed as part of the presentation for this award. Ed, his wife Alice, and son Ryan, regularly participated in the Annual Madame Lorraine Fun Run.
