The CFIS Child Care Centre is an accredited, licensed, non-profit facility,
serving families at Calgary French & International School since
1990.
Full-time care is available for children ages 3-6. We also provide
modified days for children that attend classes in the school. Teachers
and Child Care staff are accountable to bring children to/from the
Child Care Centre.
The Child Care Centre is in full day operation summers for
ages 3-5 years. During the summer we are planning
to have field trips once a week to a variety of locations. Transportation
is provided by the CFIS community-based
bus service.
We also accommodate children with a Before\After School program
(geared toward students attending the Calgary French & International
School).
Registration for school-year child-care is on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must
be registered as students of Calgary French & International
School. Registration forms are available in the Child Care Centre
or can be downloaded below. A deposit must accompany all registration
form. The fees vary according to the components of care required.
Please refer to the current Registration Form for fees.
Please refer to the separate registration form for Summer childcare program details (applicable fees, themes, schedule, etc.)
Please note that a deposit must accompany the registration package.
The Child Care Centre and the
Before and After School program are licensed under the ‘Social
Care Facilities Licensing Act’. All staff have some type of
post-secondary education in Child Care and are encouraged to continue
to upgrade their training. Most staff are bilingual in French and
everyone is required to go through a security clearance process
and have a current Child Care First Aid and CPR certificate.
We now have our accreditation
for the Child Care Centre through Alberta Association for the Accreditation
of Early
Learning and Care Services (AELCS). Accreditation
is a voluntary program which aims to improve quality of care. For
more information, please read the AELCS
brochure.
The Director has her diploma in Early Childhood Education and
carries 13 years of experience in Child Care. Under the direction
of the Director, every caregiver is responsible for meeting each
child’s developmental needs (i.e. social, emotional, physical,
cognitive and creative development) through appropriate daily programming
that includes a variety of arts and crafts, group games, outdoor
play opportunities as well as engaging in positive interaction during
free play.
Our Child Care Centre facilities were specifically constructed
to conform to the Alberta Day Care rules and regulations. To meet
the expected hygiene and comfort levels required to meet the 80
children capacity, the facilities are fully equipped with laundry
area, self-contained washrooms, and separate kitchen.
There are two connected spaces within the Child Care Centre that
can be used to run separate activity programs for younger and older
children.
Located on the main floor of the school, the Child Care Centre
has a close-at-hand entrance for parents to drop off children in
a safe environment to ensure security.
