The CFIS Cafeterias offers a number of valuable services to students and staff throughout the school year. Additional charges apply for these services. Please refer to the specific program forms for cost details.

HOT LUNCH PROGRAMME

The CFIS Cafeteria provides a nutritious and inexpensive "pre-order" hot lunch programme for students in Grades 1 - 11. Menus and order forms are distributed on a monthly basis. Parents must register children for this pre-paid program one month in advance by forms sent home with students.

Our menu plans offer students and staff the choice of an entrée, beverage and a variety of desserts. Menu selections are based on Canada's Food Guide for Healthy Eating, and have been reviewed by a registered dietician. Our goal is to serve meals that are nutritionally balanced and that taste good. Entrees come in half or full sizes to suit your child’s appetite.

A small lunch concession in The Core cafeteria offers affordable lunch entrees, baked goods, fresh fruit and vegetables, and beverages for Junior/Senior High students and staff only.

MILK PROGRAMME

A milk program is available for students attending half-day Child Care, ECS full-day, Elementary, Junior High and Senior High. Refer to the Milk Program form for the yearly cost per student. Forms are distributed via school mail or available at the school office.

Skim milk, 2%, and chocolate milk are available. Students registered for the program receive their milk every school day from early September to mid-June.

FACILITIES INFORMATION

Elementary Cafeteria
Our fully functioning dining facility in our Elementary school accommodates up to 175 people.

The kitchen is geared toward preparations for students and events with its range of equipment including stoves, dishwashers, microwaves, and a storage room to provide warm meals.

Our dining hall can also be readily re-configured from a servery area to accommodate a variety of events from competitive and recreational sporting activities, theatrical and musical performances to lectures and presentations.

The 'Core' - Junior/Senior High Cafeteria
Our Junior/Senior High cafeteria provide the same amenities as our Elementary Cafeteria and accommodate up to 190 people. This cafeteria provides a open concession mid-morning as well as lunch time hot-lunch programme.

THE ENVIRONMENT

In 2008/2009 we launched the use of reusable lunch containers for our Elementary Cafeteria Hot Lunch Programme. While this participation is optional, many students now use these containers and help us save hundred (if not thousands) of Styrofoam plates. The use of these containers will contribute to saving our earth as we move forward with our plans to purchase dishes and cutlery for the 2009/2010 school year! We encourage all parents and students to adopt environmental practices for their lunches. Just a few ideas:

• Use any reusable container to store your lunch in
• Limit the use of plastics, wraps etc
• Use any reusable cutlery that you have
• Recycle your juice/beverage boxes
