IB Primary Years Programme
In the PYP approach, students are guided to ask questions, develop critical and creative thinking, and are encouraged to cultivate various attributes of the learner profile that make a real difference. CFIS teachers do an extraordinary job by placing students at the heart of their learning, giving them a voice and choices.

AN INQUIRY-BASED PROGRAMME
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate (IB) is an exciting approach to student learning that encourages children to develop critical thinking through inspired curiosity and wonder. The PYP aligns with our commitment to providing our students with high-quality, challenging, and international education.
All CFIS students from preschool to grade 5 will benefit from the PYP Programme. The skills they develop will help make a difference in their own lives, their communities, and beyond.
The PYP is an authentic, inquiry-based learning and teaching programme that is engaging, challenging, and relevant. It promotes students’ learning by inquiry and reflecting on their own learning.
By embodying the attributes of the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile, the PYP programme instills in students a global perspective. It strives to nurture culturally aware and internationally minded young people ready to thrive in our interconnected world.
Throughout an academic year, student inquiry is guided by conceptual ideas connected to six transdisciplinary themes of global significance. Bridges between subject disciplines are fostered and developed to build transferable knowledge, understanding, and skills that foster students' confidence, curiosity, and self-management abilities.
