Our Embark transitional French immersion program is designed for students who are entering Grades 1 to 4 and Grade 7, are excelling academically and are ready to embrace the challenge of learning in a new language. Created for students who demonstrate strong learning skills and are ready for an accelerated language-learning experience, Embark allows students to join CFIS's full French immersion environment while receiving additional French language support. Through this enriched approach, students build the confidence and language skills needed to thrive in French immersion and become fully integrated members of the CFIS learning community.

Embark Transitional French Immersion: Grades 1 to 4

Beginning French immersion in the Primary years provides students with a strong foundation for multilingual learning. Designed for students who are already demonstrating strong academic skills, Embark offers an accelerated pathway into French immersion while providing the language support needed for success.

Throughout their first two years at CFIS, Embark students receive dedicated French language instruction in small groups while learning alongside their classmates in the full French immersion classroom. This additional guidance helps students develop their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while building confidence in everyday classroom learning. By their third year at CFIS, students have developed the language proficiency and confidence to fully participate in French immersion alongside their peers.

Embark Late French Immersion: Grade 7

The Embark Grade 7 program offers academically strong students the opportunity to begin French immersion later in their educational journey. Designed for students with no previous full French immersion experience, the program combines intensive French language support with participation in the full Grade 7 curriculum.

Students learn in a dedicated Embark Grade 7 cohort while also integrating with other Grade 7 classes, allowing them to be part of the broader CFIS community as they build their language skills.
