Calgary French & International School is a community that embraces multilingual learning, cultural diversity, and global competencies, inspiring children’s unique curiosity and exploration of the world around them. With classes from Junior Preschool through Grade 12, CFIS students grow into open-minded, socially conscious, and culturally engaged individuals prepared for an ever-changing world.
We understand that choosing the right school is a big decision for your family. At CFIS, our dedicated Admissions staff is committed to guiding you through this journey. We ensure that your child's education and your family's needs are our top priorities, providing you with the support and information you need to make an informed decision.
At CFIS, children learn in an immersive French language learning environment enriched with Spanish Language Arts starting in Grade 4, and our intentionally designed Global Education programming, UNESCO, Round Square and International Baccalaureate curriculum. Students from 19 months to 5 years can apply to our Early Childhood Education classes, and children entering Grades 1 to 4 without French education are eligible to apply to our Embark transitional immersion program. Prior French education is an admissions requirement for students in Grades 5 to 12.

Thank you for your interest in Calgary French & International School, where children aged 19 months to 18 years develop the skills and confidence to thrive through our multilingual and immersive global education programming. More Than a School, It’s a Community.
It is “the feeling you get when you come through the doors” that CFIS has long been known for and permeates through our building. It is our parents and volunteers who partner with our educators to enrich our students' learning experience.
It is our bilingual teachers — from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas — who bring their language and traditions to the classroom and support students to make connections with the world around them. With more than 30 nationalities among CFIS families and staff, our students see familiar faces and are immersed in multiple languages and new cultures everyday.
French Immersion and Spanish Fluency Our full French immersion learning environment is ideal for developing fluency and mastery of the language.
Scientific research shows that learning languages, especially at an early age, builds connections in young brains, enhances creativity, attention, focus, and academic strength, and fosters sensitivity and openness to other cultures and ways of life.
By the time they graduate from high school, our students are confident communicators in multiple languages, bilingual in French and English, and fluent in Spanish.

CFIS is a candidate school for the Primary Years Programme for preschool to grade 5 and offers the IB Diploma Programme for senior students.
Our graduates earn bilingual diplomas that facilitate study across North America and abroad to pursue post-secondary studies in the sciences, engineering, business, and arts.
