Before- and After-School Program
We are excited to begin a new year of the CFIS BAS program which is licensed under the Alberta Child Care Licensing Act. We believe that the program is an extension of the school day and will maintain the same standards, expectations, and values of the CFIS school day. The CFIS BAS program is proud to follow the best practices in health and safety, as recommended by licensing and health authorities.
To help each child to develop to their full potential, we plan a variety of activities based on the children’s interests and needs. Activities may include:
- Arts activities (visual arts, dance, drama, music);
- Athletic activities (team & individual sports, yoga, etc);
- Outdoor play & exploration;
- Dramatic play;
- Homework time;
- Literacy activities;
- Leadership and philanthropy;
- Science experiments and exploration; and
- Robotics, coding & programing.
The children are encouraged to contribute ideas to the daily programming and share their knowledge with others. The homework club portion of the grades 4 to 6 before-and-after school program provides academic support to our students in both French and English.
Our before-school program opens at 7 a.m., and the after-school program closes at 5:30 p.m. We do not provide the program on PD days, Winter Break, February Break, or Spring Break.
While our BAS program is intended for students registered in advance, we welcome requests for drop-in, occasional use when space permits. (Please note that occasional use is not available for children in preschool and Junior Kindergarten.) Please contact Susan Ammeter at email@example.com to request occasional care. All mandatory paperwork must be completed in its entirety before any child attends BAS, including occasional use.
To help ensure thorough supervision and accurate staff ratios, please let the BAS program know when your child will be away from BAS. The easiest way to do so is to include me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org in any communication around school absences. If your child will be attending the regular school day, but not their BAS program time, please inform me directly.
I am looking forward to a great year together!
Mme. Susan Ammeter
