Thank you for considering participation in the CFIS Grocery Card Program! Please read this message from the 2017-18 Grocery Card Committee:
Dear CFIS Families, Faculty and Staff,
The Grocery Card Program has been managed by parent volunteers since it began in 2006. Last year alone, the Grocery Card Program raised nearly $30,000 that will go towards purchasing 21st century tools and improving learning environments for students at CFIS. The school is pleased to continue to offer you the opportunity to purchase grocery cards to generate useful dollars at the school. Over $250,000 has been raised by the program!
With every order you place, CFIS receives between 4 and 9 per cent back in cash to be used for programs at the school. Over the past years, funds raised from this program have been spent on items such as additional computers, musical instruments, gym equipment, the television system and awards at CFIS.
Participating stores include:
- Calgary Co-op: Stores in Calgary, Airdrie and Strathmore
- Sobeys/Safeway: nationally at Sobeys, Safeway, Foodland, Thrifty Foods, IGA (limited in BC), and other affiliates across Canada
- Blush Lane Organics: All existing and future Blush Lane locations
- President's Choice: Superstore, No Frills, Loblaws or other PC affiliates across Canada
A few key points to remember:
- You will only be charged in monthly increments. Funds are withdrawn on the 10th of each month for the cards you have ordered.
- Payment for the cards will be made by e-cheque. Please click here for e-cheque instructions.
- Cards cannot be used for liquor purchases, to purchase other gift cards or exchanged for cash.
- You will still receive points or discounts on your store loyalty cards.
- As the cards are treated as cash, you will be required to sign for your cards at pick-up. You may designate someone to pick them up for you.
Thank you in advance for supporting student learning at CFIS.Please consider purchasing at least one $100 card per month. If every family at CFIS does this, we will raise over $30,000 again for the school this year.

Will I be billed for the total amount of cards or monthly?
You will only be charged in monthly increments. Funds are withdrawn on the 10th of each month for the cards you have ordered that month.
Where will I find a monthly breakdown of my cards ordered?
Even though you are billed month by month, the final confirmation screen will only show the total amount for your order. When you receive your confirmation email, a link is provided that connects to a list of all the cards you ordered by pickup date.
What portion of each card goes back to the school?
With every order you place, CFIS receives between 4 and 9 per cent back in cash to be used for programs at the school. The percentage back depends on the grocery store.
How much does the program raise?
Since the program began in 2006, it has raised over $250,000 for the school. Last year alone, the Grocery Card Program raised over $31,000.
Where does the money go for the Grocery Card Program?
Over the past years, funds raised from this program have been spent on items such as additional computers, musical instruments, gym equipment, the television system and awards at CFIS.
What proportion of parents participate in the program?
Participation has grown significantly over the years with over 200 families participating in the program in 2016-17.
Will my participation really make a difference?
Yes! If every family at CFIS purchases just one $100 grocery card per month, we will raise over $30,000 again for the school this year.
Can a grandparent or friend of CFIS order cards?
Yes! Although only parents can have accounts on secure, you can place more than one order for friends and other members of your family. This allows you to enter that person’s banking information so they are charged monthly. All orders will be packaged separately for delivery.
I just realized that I forgot to order additional cards for summer and the holidays. Can I submit two orders?
Yes - In the past we were able to accommodate special orders during the year. We are unable to process any orders after the order period, so if you want additional cards, please order them now.
Why can’t I pay by credit card?
Due to the fees associated with credit card payments, payment for the grocery cards will be made by e-cheque.

Are there restrictions on any purchases?
Cards cannot be used for liquor purchases, to purchase other gift cards or exchanged for cash.
What if I made a mistake or need to cancel my order?
Please contact the Director of Finance at 403-240-1500, extension 134, if you need to make any changes to your order.
