Giving time and talent
Help continue to build our vibrant school community by becoming a volunteer. Please see the wide-range of opportunities here in our 2017-18 Volunteer Catalogue.
Email Theresa Gerritsen, our Director of Communications, Marketing and Advancement if you would like to discuss possibilities for volunteering.
Our school is always looking for volunteers for a variety of positions, and the opportunities are endless. You can volunteer by contributing your talents, time and interests for an hour, a day or the full school year—whatever fits your schedule.
Learn about our volunteer opportunities through this publication, volunteer postings in school publications, contacting one of our many committees, or speaking to your child’s teacher.
Police Information Checks
All adults interested in volunteering at the Calgary French & International School must have a valid Police Information Check (PIC). There are no exceptions.
The processing period for PICs can take four to six weeks so please fill out an application at least a month before your volunteer event. Individuals will not be permitted to volunteer without an approved PIC that has been returned to the school. To streamline the application process, we have created an account online with the Calgary Police Service. The school will cover the $15 administration fee per application.
To obtain your PIC, first, email Mme Sylvia Zaal (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Mme Julie Chassagne (email@example.com) your full legal name as it appears on your ID or drop by in person to obtain a volunteer verification letter. Please be aware that from 8 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 4 p.m. are peak times in the office and wait times to see a receptionist may be longer.
Once you have your verification letter, you may:
- Apply online with the Calgary Police Service (CPS) on the CPS website at https://policeinformationcheck.calgarypolice.ca/ and select <Perform personal police check>.
- Apply in person at a RCMP location if you live outside of Calgary
