Grade 5 students visited the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory, where they stepped into the world of astronomy and space exploration.
During their visit, students learned how telescopes work and why they are such powerful tools for studying the night sky. They explored the solar system, discovered fascinating facts about galaxies and the broader universe, and discussed the history and future of space exploration.
One of the highlights of the trip was seeing multiple professional telescopes up close and even building their own! Students designed and constructed simple telescopes, then headed outside to test them, putting their new knowledge into action.
The experience brought science to life and gave students a hands-on opportunity to deepen their understanding of the universe beyond our planet.
