Paskapoo Biology Field Study

Paskapoo Biology Field Study

Twenty Grade 11 and 12 Biology students recently visited Paskapoo to begin their first field study of the year.

During the outing, students focused on developing their scientific observation skills by carefully recording the living organisms they noticed around the pond. These observations will help them move through an important part of the scientific process, from observation to questioning and eventually to experimentation.

Next, students will combine their findings with their classmates and work together to narrow their observations into one testable question. They will then develop a methodology and return to Paskapoo in the coming weeks to collect data before completing their own individual analyses.

This hands-on experience is helping prepare students in the IB Biology course for their Internal Investigation in November, while giving them the opportunity to apply the scientific process in a real-world setting.
