Athletics Rally & Awards Celebration

Athletics Rally & Awards Celebration

Middle and Senior School students came together for the annual CFIS Athletics Rally & Awards, a special event dedicated to celebrating the dedication, teamwork, perseverance, and accomplishments of our student-athletes throughout the school year. The rally provided an opportunity for students, coaches, and staff to reflect on a season filled with hard work, personal growth, memorable achievements, and countless moments of Viking pride.

One of the highlights of the event was an engaging and inspiring Q&A session featuring CFIS alumni Christian Gillam ‘23, who is studying Computer Science and Finance at the University of Ottawa while competing on the university’s men’s soccer team, and Ava Dyck ’24, who is pursuing Exercise Science at California Baptist University and competing at the NCAA Division I level in cross country and track. They were joined by Mitchell Blake Ostberg, Wrestling Coach at the University of Calgary. Together, they shared their experiences as athletes, discussing the challenges they faced, the lessons they learned through competition, and the importance of resilience, discipline, and teamwork. Their insights into athletic development, balancing academics and sport, and pursuing opportunities beyond high school inspired students to continue striving for excellence both on and off the field.

The celebration continued with team all star awards recognizing athletes from Cross Country, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Soccer, and Track & Field. Coaches reflected on the season and highlighted athletes who demonstrated exceptional commitment to their teams and sports.

A special congratulations goes to our Athletes of the Year recipients: Brodie L., Alexander H., Stella G., and Charlie C. These students have shown leadership, commitment, CFIS pride, perseverance, sportsmanship, and coachability.

We also proudly recognized Kale L. with the Viking Leader Award, honouring his outstanding leadership, positive influence, and unwavering dedication to the CFIS athletic community. Through his commitment to sportsmanship, and ability to lead by example, Kale has made a lasting impact on those around him and exemplifies the qualities of a true Viking leader.

Congratulations to all of our athletes, coaches, and teams for an incredible year. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to representing CFIS with excellence. We look forward to another exciting year of athletic achievement and Viking pride ahead.
