CFIS Co-Valedictorians & Wolf Scholar

Calgary French & International School is proud to recognize the Class of 2026 Co-Valedictorians, Alexander B. and Robert T.

Each year, Senior School teachers and students nominate Grade 12 students for the Valedictorian distinction based on academic achievement, the rigour of their program of studies, involvement in school life, participation in extracurricular activities, commitment to learning and personal growth, and demonstrated leadership, citizenship, and integrity. In recognition of the exceptional strength of this year’s graduating class, CFIS is pleased to name two students whose accomplishments equally reflect these criteria.

Both Alexander and Robert have demonstrated outstanding academic excellence, meaningful engagement in school life, and consistent leadership throughout their time at CFIS. Each has contributed to the school community in distinct and meaningful ways, and both fully represent the values of CFIS.

Alexander B.
Valedictorian Recognition & CFIS Journey

Alexander has been part of the CFIS community since the age of three and has grown into a student leader with a strong commitment to academic excellence and environmental stewardship.

As Valedictorian, Alexander was recognized for his outstanding academic record, rigorous IB Diploma Programme studies, meaningful involvement in school life, and consistent leadership and integrity. His contributions reflect a sustained commitment to both personal growth and service to the school community.

Over the course of his time at CFIS, Alexander has been a driving force in sustainability initiatives. He founded the student-led Jörd Committee, helping to influence environmental policies and practices within the school and supporting initiatives that contributed to the purchase of an electric school bus.

His engagement extends beyond campus through Round Square global discussions, international learning experiences, and a growing interest in political philosophy and public policy. He has consistently sought opportunities to engage in dialogue and leadership at both local and global levels.

Most recently, Alexander introduced an Environmental Sustainability Framework to the Senior Leadership Team as a legacy project. This framework is intended to guide future decision-making and support continued progress in reducing the school’s environmental footprint and strengthening its sustainability efforts

Wolf Scholars Program – University of Toronto 

This fall, Alexander will join the University of Toronto Faculty of Arts & Science as one of just 16 students selected from more than 1,000 applicants for the inaugural Wolf Scholars cohort.

Created through a partnership between the University of Toronto and the Wolf Cooper Foundation, the Wolf Scholars Program was designed to support future Canadian leaders distinguished by their intellectual curiosity, leadership potential, and strength of character. Delivered in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts & Science and the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, the program prepares students for meaningful careers and leadership roles in Canada and beyond.

As part of one of the world's most immersive undergraduate scholarship experiences, Alexander will receive full tuition support, annual living stipends, international travel opportunities, internships with leading organizations, mentorship, and access to a curated speaker series featuring influential thinkers and changemakers. He will also be a member of University College.

Alexander plans to study philosophy and public policy, with a particular interest in political philosophy and understanding how societies are organized. His academic interests align closely with the interdisciplinary nature of the Wolf Scholars Program, which encourages students to tackle complex challenges through innovative and multidisciplinary thinking.

Reflecting on the opportunity, Alexander shared that he is “thrilled to be attending the University of Toronto Faculty of Arts & Science this fall as an inaugural Wolf Scholar,” describing the program as an immersive experience that will allow him to engage in discussion and discovery with fellow cohort members. He also expressed gratitude to his family, mentors, teachers, friends, and the Wolf Scholars team for their support throughout the selection process.

Alexander previously participated in the University of Toronto's MUNK1 program in Public Policy, Economics, and Philosophy, further strengthening his interest in interdisciplinary study and public leadership.

Robert T.
Valedictorian Recognition & CFIS Journey

Robert T. has been a member of the CFIS community since 2013 and has developed into a thoughtful, analytical, and community-minded leader.

As Valedictorian, Robert was recognized for his outstanding academic achievement, the rigour of his IB Diploma Programme studies, meaningful involvement in school life, dedication to extracurricular engagement, and consistent demonstration of leadership, citizenship, and integrity. His approach to learning is marked by discipline, reflection, and a strong commitment to supporting others.

As Chair of the Student Life Committee, Robert played a key role in shaping school culture while ensuring students across the community had opportunities to contribute, participate, and lead. His leadership style is grounded in collaboration and inclusivity, helping to strengthen student voice within the school.

Through the rigours of the IBDP, Robert developed into an independent thinker with a strong critical lens, earning Honour Roll with Distinction.

Robert will attend University of Toronto Trinity College, where he plans to study Life Sciences, with the long-term goal of pursuing pediatric medicine and improving communication in healthcare for children.

Together, Alexander and Robert exemplify the academic excellence, leadership, and integrity recognized through the Valedictorian distinction. Their contributions reflect not only individual achievement, but also the strength and character of the CFIS Class of 2026.
