Creative Learning for La Francophonie

Creative Learning for La Francophonie

As the Month of La Francophonie came to a close, our Junior Kindergarten classe Violette students in Early Childhood took part in a meaningful and hands-on celebration of language and learning.

With several themed dress days already on the calendar, this class approached their Francophonie celebration in a thoughtful and creative way. Students were invited to transform items they already owned through a personalized design workshop.

Using textile markers and colourful appliqués, each child created their own French-themed shirt. They chose words in French that were meaningful to them and carefully added designs that reflected their personality and creativity. With guidance, students also participated in writing their chosen words, strengthening their fine motor skills and building early literacy in French.

Beyond the artistic experience, this project opened the door to important conversations. Together, the class explored ideas around consumption, waste, and the impact of buying new items. Students learned that small choices, like reusing and creating, can help care for our environment.
