Curious Minds at the Fire Hall

Curious Minds at the Fire Hall

Our Junior Kindergarten students stepped into the world of community helpers during a visit to the Coach Hill Fire Station. For many, it was their first time inside a real working fire hall and the excitement was clear from the moment they arrived.

Students climbed aboard a fire truck, explored the tools firefighters use, and watched a hydraulic cutter slice through bottles with ease. They learned how this powerful tool helps firefighters rescue people safely. The experience was both thrilling and reassuring as students began to understand how firefighters protect and care for our community.

Of course, no fire station visit would be complete without practicing important safety skills. Our young learners confidently demonstrated “Stop, Drop, and Roll” like true pros. They asked thoughtful questions, listened carefully, and shared their ideas with the firefighters.

This visit brought the IB Learner Profile to life in meaningful ways. Students were Inquirers as they explored a new environment with curiosity. They were Communicators as they engaged in conversation with firefighters. They were Caring as they learned how helpers serve and protect others.

We are grateful to the team at Coach Hill Fire Station for welcoming our students and helping make this experience both enriching and memorable.

At CFIS, learning extends far beyond the classroom walls. In Junior Kindergarten, every adventure builds confidence, curiosity and a strong foundation for a lifetime of discovery.
