This year marked an extraordinary milestone for CFIS at the Alberta International Band Festival.
Both our Middle School Grade 8 Concert Band and our Senior School Concert Band earned Gold Awards, a rare and remarkable achievement. It is the first time in CFIS history that two bands have received Gold at the festival in the same year.
For our Grade 8 students, the accomplishment was historic. They received a near 94 percent overall score, the highest total mark CFIS has ever achieved at the festival. Only 10 percent of participating groups score above 90 percent, making this an exceptional result. Their performance was awarded an emphatic Gold.
Our Senior School Concert Band also delivered an outstanding performance, earning Gold with an overall score of 91 percent. To receive even one Gold at this level is rare. To receive two in the same year speaks to the dedication, discipline, and artistry of our students.
From Middle School through Senior School, our musicians grow not only in skill, but in character. Their success at the Alberta International Band Festival reflects our commitment to developing the whole student and nurturing excellence across disciplines.
At CFIS, music is more than performance. It builds confidence, collaboration, and creative thinking. Through the arts, students learn to listen closely, lead with courage, and strive for excellence together. Most importantly, these achievements represent hours of focused practice, teamwork, and resilience.
