Grade 10 CALM Camp

Grade 10 CALM Camp

Our Grade 10 students recently traded the classroom for the mountains during a three-day backpacking experience with Outward Bound Canada in Kananaskis.

Carrying their own packs, students hiked through the Rockies while building practical outdoor skills such as navigation, route planning, pacing and backcountry safety. At camp, they worked together to set up shelters, prepare communal meals and learn the essentials of responsible wilderness living.

The experience went far beyond learning outdoor skills. Students were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, support one another and take greater responsibility for the success of their group. Through shared challenges, leadership activities and moments of reflection, they developed greater resilience, confidence and independence while deepening their appreciation for the natural world.

It was a memorable opportunity for students to learn through experience, strengthen connections with their peers and discover what they are capable of when faced with new challenges.
