GrandFriends Day at CFIS

GrandFriends Day at CFIS

CFIS was excited to welcome our GrandFriends to campus for a morning filled with warmth, conversation, and shared moments of learning. From the very start, the atmosphere reflected what makes CFIS special: a strong sense of belonging and a community that values relationships across generations. The beautiful Marcel Tremblay Library, delicious breakfast, flowers on the tables, and subtle jazz music created a welcoming ambiance. Before the program even began, the spaces were buzzing with conversations as grandparents connected with one another and with school community members. As one guest later shared:

“It was a pleasure to attend the GrandFriends event. The musical numbers were excellent! Thank you for hosting this special morning. It was wonderful meeting up and hearing from your talented leadership team. It was an informative presentation”

Students brought the morning to life through music and performance. Grade 1 students delighted guests with songs that showcased confidence, language development, and the joy of learning. A preview from the Senior School musical Chicago offered a glimpse into student creativity, teamwork, and the vibrant arts culture at CFIS, while inviting GrandFriends to take part in upcoming school events. Some GrandFriends were quietly singing along and swaying to the music, clearly enjoying every moment.

The morning also created space for meaningful dialogue. CFIS leadership shared updates and engaged GrandFriends in conversation about their involvement in their grandchildren’s education and how the school can continue to support those connections. These reflections reinforced the importance of partnership and the shared role grandparents and extended family play in student growth and well-being. One guest shared:

“It was a very impressive event! I feel so good to know my grandson is in such a great program with exceptional teachers and leadership. Thank you for all your dedication and hard work!”

As part of their career explorations, Grade 8 students interviewed GrandFriends about their careers and life lessons. The GrandFriends shared their experiences, wisdom, and encouragement, passing knowledge from one generation to the next. The room was buzzing with excitement and curiosity on both sides, and the intergenerational conversations were clearly meaningful. As one attendee reflected:

“I truly enjoyed every moment of the morning. The students’ energy and curiosity were inspiring, and it was a joy to see such meaningful connections between generations.”

The visit concluded with heartfelt thanks and a school tour led by Grade 6 student ambassadors. Through their leadership and pride, students offered GrandFriends a window into daily life at CFIS and the spaces where learning happens.

GrandFriends Day was a meaningful reminder that learning is lifelong and strengthened through connection. By bringing generations together, CFIS continues to build a caring, engaged community where students feel supported, inspired, and deeply connected to the people who matter most in their lives.
