Jörd Market Sparks Innovation

Jörd Market Sparks Innovation

This year’s highly anticipated Jörd Spring Market, organized by our incredible student-led Jörd Committee, was a tremendous success—raising an impressive $10,000 to support new equipment for student spaces on campus.

A highlight of the event was the enthusiastic participation of our Grade 4 and 5 students through the Elementary Mini-preneurs Club. Embracing entrepreneurship and creativity, students formed their own “businesses,” brainstorming, designing, and producing items to sell at the market. They applied classroom learning in real-world ways—exploring profit margins, cost analysis, pricing strategies, and marketing. From handmade crafts to creative goods, each group brought thoughtful ideas to life through collaboration and dedication.

The event was expertly coordinated on behalf of the Secondary Division by Jörd Student President Alexander B, whose leadership helped bring the vision to life and connect students across divisions.

The market’s success was made possible by the tremendous support of our parent community. Families generously donated gently used items, helped sort and prepare goods, and came out in full force to attend and support the event.

Beyond being a community favourite, the Jörd Market is rooted in values of sustainability and circular economy. By repurposing and reselling items, the market helps reduce waste and encourages thoughtful consumption—benefiting both our school and the planet.

In an inspiring act of generosity, this year’s $10,000 in proceeds will go toward the purchase of equipment for our school’s newest student spaces. Thanks to the combined efforts of students, families, and staff, the impact of this event will continue to be felt well into the future.

Looking ahead, we are thrilled to introduce the newly appointed Secondary Student Committee Chairs for the 2025–2026 school year. These outstanding students were selected for their vision, collaboration, and dedication to leading with purpose—and we can’t wait to see how they will shape student life, strengthen our school culture, and carry the torch of leadership forward.

Please join us in congratulating:

  • Martine J. (‘26), Chair of Round Square, with Sarah L. (‘27) and Emma F. (‘27) rounding off our executive leadership team.
  • Alexander B. (‘26), Chair of Jörd
  • Robert T. (‘26), Chair of Student Life
  • Aria G (‘26), Head of Communications

Committee chairs act as our Head of School Prefects: the official student focus group and voice. We are excited to see how they will inspire, collaborate, and lead our student community with passion and purpose.
