Embark Stories Come to Life

The classroom transformed into a vibrant creative studio for our Embark B students as they dived into an exciting project: creating their very own book! As second-year and final-year students in our Embark transitional French Immersion program, these young storytellers used this hands-on journey to explore the magic of bringing words and ideas to life entirely in French.

To spark their imagination, the class welcomed Jade Leprizé, a talented illustrator and Film Studies student from the University of Calgary. Jade shared her creative process, giving students a behind-the-scenes look at how characters and worlds are built through illustration.

For this project, students imagined and developed their own unique stories, sharing them orally with their peers. This immersive experience provided an incredible boost to their confidence, proving just how much progress they have made in their language-learning journey.  These ideas will be transcribed and shared into a final book that beautifully combines storytelling, student ideas, and comic-style pages. 

This experience did more than teach the basics of storytelling; it actively supported the development of oral communication skills in French and fostered deep creativity. Most importantly, it encouraged our Embark B students to take immense pride in their work as confident, capable, and multilingual young creators.
