Before & After School Care

The CFIS Before and After School (BAS) program is licensed under the Alberta Child Care Licensing Act. Our BAS program is an extension of the school day and will maintain the same standards, expectations and values of the school. The CFIS BAS program is proud to follow the best practices in health and safety, as recommended by licensing and health authorities.

Activities

Students in and before- and after-school care are encouraged to contribute ideas to the daily programming and share their knowledge with other children. To help each child develop to their full potential, we plan various activities based on the children’s interests and needs.

Activities may include:

  • arts activities (visual arts, dance, drama, music, etc.)
  • athletic activities (team and individual sports, yoga, etc.)
  • outdoor play and exploration
  • dramatic play
  • homework time
  • literacy activities
  • leadership and philanthropy
  • science experiments and exploration
  • robotics, coding and programming

In addition, the Homework Club for children in the Grades 4 to 6 BAS program, offers academic support from CFIS specialist to students, in both French and English. 

Availability

The before-school program opens at 7:00 am.  

The after-school program ends at 5:30 pm.

Our BAS program is closed on CFIS Professional Development Days, Winter Break, February Break, Spring Break, and Student-Led Conference Days.

Registration in advance is required for accessing before- and after-school care. All required paperwork must be completed in its entirety before any child who participates in our BAS program.

Our BAS program is intended for students who attend regularly. For occasional use, the drop-in rate is $25 per hour (one hour minimum) and must be booked in advance. Email our BAS Coordinator at bas@cfis.com to inquire if your desired time can be accommodated.
