As one of the top private schools in Calgary, and one of the best French immersion schools in Canada, the Calgary French & International School has a strong history of academic performance supported by a modern, hands-on style of learning in all subject areas.

Our school is wonderfully diverse with over 35 languages spoken by families, faculty and staff. We are easily accessible from western Rocky View, the SW and NW of Calgary, including downtown, and have a number of families who travel from theeastern end of the city via our door-to-door bus system.

Calgary French & International School open houses are wonderful opportunities to take part in small-group tours, hear presentations about our programs, mission and values, and have your questions addressed.

As families arrive, Grade 6 students tour them through the school. The tour includes all CFIS Elementary Division facilities including our gym, three music rooms, two expansive art rooms, beautiful Learning Commons, STEAM Makerspace and cheerful, healthy cafeteria.

Parent ambassadors greet parents and answer questions about their experience

learning in a French immersion, independent (private) school environment. The leadership team, including principals, Head of School and the Directors of Early Childhood and Enrolment then provide a formal in-depth presentation on:

  • The academic and developmental benefits of learning in a well-rounded, enriched French immersion learning environment;
  • Showcase the incredible academic results of our students all the way through to graduation;
  • The logistics of applying to CFIS, including the assessment days; and
  • The diversity of course option, quality programming and teaching available as well as supports in place for students in need of enrichment or learning support.

Families will receive a full information package of materials to review about the school. Twenty to 30 families attend a typical open house at CFIS. Refreshments are available at all our enrolment events.

The Calgary French & International School is a independent school (also known as a private school) offering open houses and tours. Situated in the near the southern entrance to Canada Olympic Park, we are located in the SW quadrant of Calgary 15 mins east of downtown. Please find a map to our school here.

As an independent school (private school) there are fees and tuition associated with enrolment at the Calgary French & International School.  Students may transfer to the Calgary French & International School from other French immersion schools within Calgary or internationally. Within our French immersion preschool, junior kindergarten, right up to our full-day kindergarten, children do not need any prior exposure to French and quickly pick-up the language from their teachers. Starting in Grade 1, students need to either come from a French immersion school or from a home environment where French is one of the languages spoken. We regularly have students transfer from schools internationally as well as from the Calgary and the Rocky View School Districts.
