Lindsay Kuch '16, has carved an impressive path since her days at CFIS. Driven by a passion for environmental sustainability and social justice, she is now pursuing a Masters in International Development and Globalization with a Specialization in Environmental Sustainability at the University of Ottawa.
Lindsay is currently in the midst of a co-op term as a Junior Policy Analyst for Stakeholder Relations in the Sustainability Directorate of the Strategic Policy Branch at Environment and Climate Change Canada. Here, she plays a crucial role in developing the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy, an initiative soon to be presented in parliament.
Looking ahead, Lindsay aspires to make a lasting impact either as a public servant or within the non-profit sector, focusing on Sustainable Development Goals both in Canada and abroad. Her interests span environmental sustainability, natural resource management, sustainable livelihoods, and nature-based solutions.
Among her notable achievements since leaving CFIS, Lindsay is particularly proud of being awarded the prestigious Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC-CRSH) Graduate Scholarship in the Fall 2020 Competition. This accolade was in recognition of her research on deforestation and precarious livelihoods in the Amazon Rainforest and Pantanal Wetlands. She has also represented Civil Society at two United Nations townhalls and was nominated by Children Believe for the United Nations Beijing + 25 Youth Task Force.
Reflecting on her time at CFIS, Lindsay credits the supportive community and dedicated teachers for much of her success. They recognized her passion for ethics, justice, and equality, and guided her towards her goals. The strong women at CFIS continue to inspire her, and she remains grateful for their encouragement over the years.
Additionally, Lindsay's proficiency in French has proven invaluable in her career with the Federal Government, giving her a competitive edge among her talented peers in the Masters and PhD programs.
Lindsay Kuch's journey exemplifies the impact of a CFIS education, showcasing how a solid foundation and supportive community can propel graduates toward remarkable achievements and meaningful careers.
