Embark students began the year with an exciting journey, without ever leaving the classroom! As part of their French Language Program, our 19 students in Grades 2, 3, and 4 created their very own passport, a creative way to explore who they are while expanding their vocabulary in French.
Each child designed a personalized passport complete with an identity page and travel sections. They wrote about where they live, the places they’ve visited, and the destinations they dream of exploring one day. The project sparked lively conversations as students shared stories, asked questions, and learned new words connected to identity and travel.

What made this project truly special was how personal it became. Students used French to express their interests, memories, and hopes, bringing the language to life in a way that felt meaningful and fun. Through their passports, words became bridges to self-expression, curiosity, and connection.

This creative start to the year embodies the spirit of the Embark program, encouraging students to take risks, explore new ideas, and make French their own. Their passports may be symbolic, but they mark the beginning of many new adventures ahead.
C’est le moment d’EMBARKer!

Curious about Embark? The Embark Program currently welcomes students in Grades 1-4 who are new to French. Starting Fall 2026, CFIS will also offer Embark for Middle School students entering Grade 7.
