On Friday, November 7, CFIS came together to honour Remembrance Day with meaningful assemblies across the school, giving students the opportunity to reflect, remember, and celebrate the contributions of those who have served.

In the first assembly for ECE and Primary students, Grade 2 and 3 students led moving performances that highlighted the importance of remembering. Grade 2 students presented In Flanders Fields, while Grade 3 shared Imagine in sign language. Student musicians added a beautiful layer to the performances. The national and provincial flags were presented by Olivia W. (Canada) and Nour N. (Alberta), and the assembly was MCed by Olivia W. and Yaseen N. Last Post and Rouse were performed by Gavin C. (Gr 10), and O Canada was played on trumpet by Michelle M. and Gavin C., accompanied on piano by Amy Y. (Gr 7).

Later in the day, the Middle and Senior School assembly continued the commemorations. MCs Isabel M. and Grace K. guided the program, which featured the senior concert band performing O Canada, and Michelle M. performing the Last Post and Rouse. Meredith K. and Ziya K. presented the Canada and Alberta flags. Various musical pieces framed the intro and closing moments, creating a reflective and respectful atmosphere for all students.

These assemblies offered a meaningful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who have served our country. By pausing to reflect, CFIS students and staff honoured the heroes of the past and reinforced the values of empathy, community, and gratitude that guide our school. We are grateful for the contributions of our students, staff, and families in creating assemblies that were both heartfelt and inspiring, reminding us all of the importance of remembrance and reflection.
