Honoring Remembrance Day at CFIS

Honoring Remembrance Day at CFIS

***

On Thursday, November 7th, CFIS came together for a moving ceremony to honour the sacrifices of those who served, led by both Elementary and Secondary students. The event was a powerful reminder of the importance of remembrance and peace.

Elementary students Oscar B. and Kiara H. guided the ceremony, with Grade 2 students performing In Flanders Fields in both French and English, and Grade 3 students presenting Imagine in sign language. These heartfelt performances brought the message of remembrance to life.

During the Secondary ceremony, the Secondary Concert Band performed a tribute that resonated deeply with all who attended, leaving a lasting impression with their talented and emotional rendition. Colonel Christopher Hunt was also a special guest, sharing moving reflections on service, sacrifice, and the hope for lasting peace.

A particularly touching moment came when Michelle M. performed the trumpet solo for The Last Post and The Rouse during the Elementary ceremony, and Keegan H. did the same during the Secondary ceremony. Both Michelle and Keegan displayed incredible courage, performing alone in front of such a large audience. Their performances were nothing short of beautiful and truly captured the solemnity and significance of the occasion.

Additionally, the Senior Concert Band impressed everyone with their mature sound and sparkling performance during the Secondary ceremony. Their music added a rich and reflective atmosphere to the event, further honouring the day’s theme.

This ceremony brought the CFIS community together, uniting us in remembrance and reinforcing our collective commitment to a peaceful future. Thank you to everyone involved for making this day so meaningful.
